National Service.

National Service Programme, was initiated by the government to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in the hearts and minds of Malaysian youths of eighteen years of age. It is also to enhance unity among the multi-racial communities in the country since young people nowadays tend to become racially segregated especially in school.

I was once a National Service trainee myself for the second batch of this year. It was indeed a great experience, once in a lifetime experience i would say. And since i`ve been away from my family for a couple of times due to camps during schooling days, it was definitely a bonus point for me to go through that few months of services. NS seriously has its own pros and cons. Some said that the government had indeed spent a lot of money on NS and its not worth it because it was only a short term programme. You can never change a person in such a short period of time. On the other hand, it actually did instill some good values on a person because through the four modules;- Physical Module, Nationality Module, Character Building Module and Community Service Module, it has seriously produced compassionate young Malaysians that will accept and appreciate the various cultures in Malaysia eventhough the Character Building Module and Nationality Module which were classroom based, were kind of mundane.

If you were to ask me if NS should be abolished, i would say no. Because if it wasnt for this programme, i wouldnt had known this great girl.

Friends from Sarawak and Sabah.

Besides that, so many things that i wouldnt have known or experienced if it wasnt for this. From what i`ve went through, NS has taught me a whole lot. It would definitely be a privileged for those who are chosen in the future. I definitely miss those great times i had in the camp.

The great view from the our dorm.

Awesome-ness. :)
