National Service.

National Service Programme, was initiated by the government to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in the hearts and minds of Malaysian youths of eighteen years of age. It is also to enhance unity among the multi-racial communities in the country since young people nowadays tend to become racially segregated especially in school.

I was once a National Service trainee myself for the second batch of this year. It was indeed a great experience, once in a lifetime experience i would say. And since i`ve been away from my family for a couple of times due to camps during schooling days, it was definitely a bonus point for me to go through that few months of services. NS seriously has its own pros and cons. Some said that the government had indeed spent a lot of money on NS and its not worth it because it was only a short term programme. You can never change a person in such a short period of time. On the other hand, it actually did instill some good values on a person because through the four modules;- Physical Module, Nationality Module, Character Building Module and Community Service Module, it has seriously produced compassionate young Malaysians that will accept and appreciate the various cultures in Malaysia eventhough the Character Building Module and Nationality Module which were classroom based, were kind of mundane.

If you were to ask me if NS should be abolished, i would say no. Because if it wasnt for this programme, i wouldnt had known this great girl.

Yvonne Yeo.

Friends from Sarawak and Sabah.

Besides that, so many things that i wouldnt have known or experienced if it wasnt for this.From what i`ve went through, NS has taught me a whole lot. It would definitely be a privileged for those who are chosen in the future. I definitely miss those great times i had in the camp.

The great view from the our dorm.

Awesome-ness. :)

Influenza A(H1N1) is a serious threat.

The influenza A(H1N1) or better known as 'swine flu' is at full throttle in our country now. The outbreak of this contagious flu had brought up the number of deaths to fourteen as of yesterday. This is a new influenza virus which causes illness in people. This virus was first detected in the United States back in the month of April this year. Its spreading very fast from person-to-person and thus precautions has to be taken;
  • sanitize your hands frequently.
  • avoid public gathering if necessary.
  • wear a face mask if possible.
  • avoid travelling to country which has high rates of H1N1 cases.
  • check temperature regularly.
  • healthy diet.
  • avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
When you think about it, a lot of the precautions are actually common sense.

The symptoms;
  • sore throat.
  • coughing.
  • severe headache and fever.
  • muscle aches.
  • diarrhea and vomitting.

If you`re having these symptoms, seek medical advice immediately. Especially if you`re having flu-like symptoms for quite some time, please be extra careful because it might not be just common flu like what we usually think it is. The lack of attention of your very own health can be a fatal mistake.

Goodbye, my friend.

Even till now, i still cant believe what had happened. Its just so surreal isnt it? Gary Leon Robert was such a great person and i knew him since i was in primary as he was one of my brother`s best friend. We all knew him for his great charms; kind, smart, great athlete, good looking. He was a very honest, promising, talented person. Everyone would agree that he was a man created by God that was so near to perfection. And most importantly, he was only 22. He was just about to venture into the world with all the great talents he had, but his time came a little too soon. The great guy he was, he slipped away before us, leaving his family and friends behind.

How could a great guy, which such great personalities, left us in that way, and why of all places, it happened to be a dumpster? He fainted after he completed his 22km run. He was begging for more water after he regained his consciousness. They said he eventually woke up and said that he was alright. But why end up, he was at the other end of the football field, in such an isolated area, lying dead with bruises? Would a person that just recovered would walk that far knowing that there`s nearer entrace for him to walk out? I was there working the other day, and i didnt even know Gary participated in the run. I was at the field after the event, and i didnt know he was fainted before that and was brought to the medical base. All that`s left now is all the 'What ifs' and 'What if its not'. The fact remains that he`s not here with us anymore.

Whatever it is, i know there`s nothing we could do to bring him back. All we could hope for now is that Gary is in a better place. That`s for sure because he`s an angel. He`s back to the arms of God, he bids farewell to the world before us and we will carry on with our lives without him. Memories of him will always be with us.

Rest in peace, Gary. You will always be remembered! WE LOVE YOU!

Deepest condolence to his family and friends.

I`ll never forget those times where you and bro`s friends bullied me during primary and secondary school days. :P Wherever you are, please take care ya!

Life is indeed fragile. Appeciate your loved ones.

p/s : If they said they had gave the best medical treatment to him, then why still the cause of his death was dehydration? Isnt it nonsense?
